Dr. Alan and Mary Whanger of Duke University, have done exhaustive analysis of the what appear to be flower images on the Shroud. This is one such image with a clear pattern of stem and berries from pistacia, a spice plant. These images have been confirmed by Dr. Avinoam Danin, professor of Botany at the Hebrew University in Israel. He can identify several plant images as unique to plants that grow in Israel.
