Frontal image. The blood is the natural result of direct contact between the cloth and the body. The image however is inexplicable. It is not the work of an artist. There are no substances on the cloth used to create this image. It is purely superficial penetrating only the top microfibers, less than 1/100th the diameter of a human hair. It is a negative image with distance information correlating with body-cloth distance. The question remains of how this image was formed. Considering what happened to Jesus on the third day, many speculate on the resurrection as the cause of the image. The cloth has wrapped a corpse but there are no stains of decomposition.
