Who are Alumni?

If you are knowledgeable about the Shroud as a result of a class project, your own independent research, or perhaps you have read a few books or seen a presentation, we invite you to become a member of the Shroud University Alumni Association. You are already among an elite few who are knowledgeable about one of the greatest mysteries in the known world.

The Alumni Association offers periodic updates on Shroud research and events. It also offers access to our academic advisers and creative ways to support the work of Shroud University internationally and in your own local community or school.

The purpose of Shroud University
is to advance the knowledge of the Shroud of Turin to a generation that has barely heard of it. Ever since the now questionable carbon dating tests of 1988, the Shroud, except for a few documentaries, has rarely been the subject of any honest news coverage. In 2005, reknown chemist Ray Rogers published his landmark findings in a respected peer reviewed journal. This new research indicated a medieval repair using different materials where the sample was cut for dating. Despite the profound new information, it was never picked up by network news, the media continues to assume carbon dating is the final word.

The recent Winter Olympics in Torino (Turin), Italy in 2006 was another sad example. NBC covered the event for two weeks and did not do a single story on the Shroud until the final day and even then, during The Today Show, Katie Couric made no mention of the work of Ray Rogers announced a year earlier but only reaffirmed the 1988 carbon date pronouncing the Shroud a medieval fake. This information was readily available but NBC deliberately chose to ignore it.

The preponderance of evidence affirms that the Shroud of Turin could be the most important and instructive archaeological artifact in the world, hidden in plain sight, hidden by controversy and confusion instead of dirt and debris.

It is this distinct possibility that makes it worthy of continued research and study. But that can only happen if the next generation is as intrigued by its mystery and meaning as the one that is now leaving the stage. This is the mission and purpose of Shroud University.

An Alumni Association serves to advance the influence and effectiveness of the school. For Shroud University, this is accomplished by encouraging students within your circle of influence to learn about the Shroud by utilizing the resources offered though this exhaustive site. For students who want to go further, there are periodic conferences that are announced in the News section on the home page. This provides students a unique opportunity to meet experts from a variety of fields of study.

Alumni are encouraged to promote Shroud University by providing links to their own websites using a variety of banner ads featured in the Shroud Store on the menu bar. In the near future, typical school promotion items will be offered such as t-shirts, mugs etc.

Pledge your support to promote Shroud University by joining our growing alumni association. There is no cost to join.
